DO NOT
- Do not use the phrase "including but not limited to" when describing the purpose.
- Do not state vague and general purposes.
- Do not state the routine activities and powers the corporation will carry out in furtherance of its purposes (e.g., owning property).
DO
- Clearly and fully describe the purpose of the corporation.
- Describe what the corporation will do to carry out its purpose.
- A concise description of the corporation's purpose is sufficient.
- Make sure the purposes are consistent with the "Type". A corporation's Type is defined by Section 201 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law.

Proposed Purpose
The purpose of Buffalo Lab, Inc is to create a community-oriented laboratory with a focus on education through collaboration. Like in a college laboratory for matriculated students, users of the laboratory will enhance their own self-education through hands on projects, mentorships and discussions. As an organization Buffalo Lab, Inc will:
- Provide and maintain physical space, tools and other resources to support the educational, technological, scientific and collaborative requirements of its members and the general public
- Share the skills, inventions and discoveries of the members with the general public through workshops, technical demonstrations and mentorships
- Collaborate on all forms of technology, science, and art in new and innovative ways
- Apply the results of its work to specific cultural, charitable and scientific causes in the local and global community
- Recruit and develop talented members from the local community dedicated to these purposes
Buffalo Lab, Inc is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
