Move out Date
We are officially out of 701 Seneca on Jan 31st.
RFID Door System will be disabled on Feb 1st.
We will be allowed a grace period of ~ 2 weeks to move stuff out.
Fixtures
Can we take fixtures or capital improvements? Probably, Matt checking with building management.
Moving stuff out
Cube van vs trucks?
If we use building support (forklift and freight elevator) has to be during business hours on weekdays.
Storage facility needs to be coordinated
Recycling/Disposal
Can someone peruse a recycler for monitors?
Maven Technologies (out of Rochester) http://www.maventech.com
Sunnking Electronics Recycling (out of Brockport) http://www.sunnking.com
Dave S will contact Computers for Children re: computer monitors. This business is supposedly on the 6th floor of our current building. CfC will not accept most of the hardware we currently have, due to their strict requirements for modern usable equipment. http://www.computersforchildren.com/RecyclingProgram.asp Perhaps they could take some keyboards or mice.
Dave will post to forum for assistance.
George, Brian and Bill will assist with information.
A free day for disposing of stuff is Jan 31 noon - 4pm. Proposed public craigslist move.
No response on rent reduction letter.
Moving Downtown
Address
New address is tentatively 523/517 Main St. The main building is also accessible via 500 Washington.
Parking
Parking is an issue during the day (not free). Reduced rates for lots and free street parking for evening.
Need a parking lot map manager. Chris nominated James for this. He agreed.
Move In Date
Mark S. Is moving forward with the incubator project at 523 Main.
No lease yet but no foreseen issues with moving in March 1st.
Mark S and building owner Rodger are still seeking us.
523 vs 517 main. Mark S and Rodger. Matt and Mike co chair move in.
Internet
Time Warner build out cost is prohibitive. NFTA is making the process more difficult (lease for cabling).
Matt is investigating other options for building Internet. (DSL, point to point WiFi, cellular mobile hotspot)
Connectivity may be limited.
Matt and Mike are the Internet project.
Meetups
No 24/7 space for Feb, but will still be able to host meet ups.
Will be able to have meet ups at 523 but not here.
Meetups, go to first floor and someone will direct them. 500 Washington, 523 Main.
Internet access and meeting space are up in the air, so plan extra setup time, bring your own Internet access via tethered solution if you can.
Lease
Lease cost is $500 per month.
Increase by $100 per quarter until $800 per month.
Continues on a 2/3 year lease.
LAN Center
They want us to run a LAN center like cyber-jocks.
Prebuilt gaming systems for people to play.
Dave S will chair LAN center.
This lan center could be run as a classroom too.
Dave S would work with Dave Schwartz.
Wood/Work Shop
Michi and Dave Chanin will help with getting wood/electronic shop up and running.
Rob and Dave Chanin are wood shop co chairs.
Marketing
Matthew Key at UB is a marketing contact. Paddy at Canisus google group can help with student marketing. Matt also knows an ITT student contact.
Market meetups not the place in general. People do not respond to general flyers.
Brian is establishing a new member / contact database. This will help facilitate donations/payments, tracking member interest and member activities. It will also help us to engage supporters and fans who are not attending our meetings and events, with more control than through existing methods alone.
We discussed creating new activities that function to engage the community. Youth activities, instructional programs.
We are interested in soliciting sponsors for our group, or for just certain projects.
